Brass Triumphant - Gareth Wood

Stop the Cavalry found at last!!

It's one of the most popular search items on our website and it's a huge hit with our North American fans.

It's an old recording that we made with the Gwalia Singers of Jonah Lewie's Christmas hit 'Stop the Cavalry'. We don't have the recording any more, but we've tracked it down on YouTube.

Gwyn comes home!

Cory are pleased to announce the appointment of Gwyn Thomas as Contest Secretary.

Gwyn was a playing member of Cory for 40 years and played Soprano for 25 years.
During Gwyn’s playing career he won: Granada Band of the Year, BBC Band of the Year,  Cory’s  first National win in 1974, The European title in 1980 and most significantly the hat-trick of National Championship wins in 1982-83-84.

Ian is to step down

Principal cornet Ian Williams will be leaving the band at the end of the year.

Ian has served Cory as principal cornet for twenty years, and in that time has led the band to victory at all the major competitions.

Ian is an employee of the South Wales Fire Service and since receiving promotion eighteen months ago has found the balance between band, work and home difficult.

Bob Childs paid tribute to Ian, saying: "Ian is a model bandsman and a truly great cornet player.
